Fall 09

We had a memorable trip south from Maine to Florida this fall. We decided to attend a rally at Thousand Trails in Hershey, PA. We were joined by our friends Harold and Berna Lu. Without getting into too many gory details, we met the strangest group of people we had ever seen. We did have some good experiences, though. We had some wonerful dinners. One at the activity center. Those ladies love to cook and it shows! Another was at Shady Maple, a grand buffet. We went on seafood night. Very good. Another thing that was memorable was the beautiful way they decorated for fall/Halloween. We went to the PA Railroad Museum in Strasburg. The best rr museum around. Afterwards we went to the Red Caboose Inn for lunch. If you want to spend the night you can sleep in one of the cabooses in the back. After leaving Hershey, we followed Harold as far as GA. We arrived in FL in late Oct. and we stayed at Thousand Trails Orlando. One evening we were surprised with a visit from some low flying hot air balloons. We've spent most of our time in Wauchula so far. It is an easier drive from here to St. Petersburg, where our dotors are, compared with the drive from Orlando. We spent Christmas with Kathy's Mom in Clearwater and New Year's Eve here in Wauchula. We'll be leaving here 1/12 to attend Gulfstreamer's RV Rally at the rv show in Tampa. Hoping to have a good time there and meeting up with some old friends.

Fall 09

We left Maine just in time because snow was in the forecast for the following week. On our way to PA we followed rte. 209 through the Delaware Water Gap. It was beautiful. We spent about 5 days near Hershey at the Thousand Trails Preserve. We met some friends, Harold and Berna Lu there. We had a good time touring the area and taking in the pretty countryside. Many farms grew pumpkins so there were beautiful displays of gourds, pumpkins, and mum plants. The food was delicious! We went to Strasburg Railroad Museum, very interesting. Just down the road was The Red Caboose Motel. If you spend the night there, you sleep in a caboose! We had lunch in the dining car. About every 15 min. the car would move from side to side and would make a clickety clack sound of the tracks. From Hershey we followed Harold and Berna Lu south as far as GA. We're in Largo, FL now. A cold front is expected to come through momentarily. It's supposed to cool down for the weekend. (Cooler than 90 degrees, that is!) Coolness is a relative term, I guess. Take care and we'll write more later.
